Marc Webb on directing ‘The Amazing Spider-man’

When 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb was hired to direct The Amazing Spider-man, many in Hollywood joked he got the job thanks to his name! In this interview, recorded in Cancun (Mexico), the filmmaker reveals exactly why his film will be nothing like Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, and also explains why he cast Andrew Garfield as the web-slinging superhero.

I like this whole vigilante take on the NEW Spiderman! I’m also dignigg the clip in the trailer when he’s dodging the officers bullets, visually reminiscent of “the matrix”. Neo had a sort of Spider Sense too, I guess. The fight scenes especially seem less of a “rubber man” thing like in the Toby McGuire version, which is cause for excitement. As far as Garfield. He seems like a non-creative casting choice. Great actor for sure, but he seems like a no-brainer that they would cast him here. I guess we should just be happy that they didn’t choose Taylor Lautner. Can you imagine watching a 2 hr Spiderman movie with that guy? Let’s not.
